guest speaker at the regular dinner meeting of the lions club which was held in the mcglbbon house on monday evening choosing santa claus as his topic t he cleverly developed this subject wit some suggestions of what he would like- santa claus touring v a padded cell for adolf was his first request with the celling painted with pictures of churchill andkooae- velt and maybe real unokef coming from churchill s famousv cigttraleo in the cell a loudspeaker should in cessantly blare forth some of hitlers own speeches then to everyone in the world he hoped santa claus would bring a vol ume of the history of isolationism this book which has not yet been written would tell of all the mistakes which the world has made since the last armistice president wilson s re fusal to form a union government in 1918 which led to tile loss of his ma jority in the american government and the consequent vetoing of his ideas at the peace conference after his return home the failure of the oil embargo against italy when that country invaded ethiopia the failure to support the democratic government which was set up in germany after the war and the consequent dlslllu- slonment of millions of germans who were not in favour with the kaisers regime of hate and war no doubt said mr lambert there are still millions of germans who can see no good from their coun try winning this war and can see de feat as their only salvation i hope the peace which follows will not be madi in the spirit of isolationism lion ralph ross former high school iwincipal moved the vole of thanks to tl e speaker for
