citizens are becoming increasingly aware of the movement and are taking an active part in the work of the ar- ious societies these were a few of the encour aging remarks made b mr bert beaumont director of child wel fare for the proince of ontario it a meeting of the board of dir ectors of the children s aid society of the county of halton held at the home of mr g f thompson superintendent on tuesday even ing november 8th mr beaumont was invited to meet with the board and staff to discuss present trends in child welfare and possible wavs in which this societ might im prove and broaden its program mr beaumont pointed out that a large part of the strengthjof chil dren s aid societies lies in the fact that they arc democratic organiza tions gov emeu by private citizens and largelv financed at the local level but supervised and coordina ted b the provincial government the societies are assisted finan cially bv provincial grants the provincial government having re cently assumed
