decision to make no increase in thea953 tax rate over last year the 43 mill rate was maintained when council passed a 217000 budget of expenses a 6500 increase over last year taxpayers will have a total levy of 164500 to pay no essential services have been reduced although the road budget was lqpped by 3000 and the fin ance committee recommended the weathei mr edifcor- this weeks summary shows robinson didnt quite make it nevertheless they played a fine game the bantams coached by duncan robinson was in our opinion the fastest team on the ice standout players on this team were bill richardson bill donaldson peter poxneroy and goalie bill patterson many others deserve honorable mention they played two games the midget game proved to be nothing more than giving george town their usual saturday morning shellacking 71 with goals scored by nearly everyone except the spec tators how did that one get in you ask well yours truly the goofy goaltender let it in one of two shots how about that the midgets wore coached by don jar- vie who has been doing a stalwart coaching job all year rev r b copland of kensing ton pei is visiting his parents mr and mrs c w coupland- a very street grocery store since mr farnells death in 1949 the funeral service will be at the mcclure funeral home on fri day a f ternoon new toronto here for minor hockey teams from georgetown and new toronto played the final games of minor hockey for the year at the arena saturday morning midgets and bantams played two games and pee wees a 15 minute period which ended in a ill tie doug davis scoring for georgetown- georgetown midgets won their round 173 and new toronto took the bantam series 84 midget scor ers for georgetown were pomeroy hillier spence mcguigan hurren denham hulmc hill and boyle bantam goals were scored by ward davis and richardson mrs alex lewis of miiverton spent a few days last week with mrs fred mcnally while cr norton was strongly ag ainst it mr norton pointed
