savings and m timbers and h harlow honorary presidents are jack crichton and rex heslop last thursday night the first part of the annual meeting was held with president ganvin in the chair the main business of the evening was the auditors report which showed a very successful year with a great many improvements around the place particularly expensive was the remodelling of the ladies powder room and the renovation of the tv room a number of ques tions were asked about the finan cial report and thesclwere answer ed to everyones satisfaction on a motion by les clarkv it was carried u that exmayors harold cleave and joe gibbons be given the privileges of the branch and made honorary members along with mayor jack armstrong it was decided to investigate and if possible install a trophy case for branch trophies in the roomstwhen- a suitable location is arrived at our congratulations to president garvin and his officers for their grand job last year and lets hope that the new executive will keep up the good work and do as much as the old one did we say this be cause last year did see a lot of con structive improvements in a lot of ways around the rooms and we hope and feel sure that the new officers will keep up the good work we were amazed at the number of members present for the elec tion sunday and hope that they will keep up the interest shown the part that amazes us constantly is the new faces that are increas ing each week we hope that the picture that bob turkington took of the group being initiated will be good enough for publication it certainly is out of the ordinary to see that number of people join the ranks another factor in bringing out a crowd for arielection of course is the interest shown when the top spots are contested as they were sunday all down the line and al though we feel extremely happy about the way the branch has been handled we think its particularly good to see the presidency contes ted not only for the branch but for the president himself because it amounts to a vote of confidence when you arc reelected we speak from experience there because in each of the four ycais we were president e had to run for it inj its a good ihink because it shows a certain confidence in lead ership when they reelect you georgetdwh hospital fund because the complete net profits firoin hie evening were donated to the fund and secondly the last detail even to the tapestrylike fringed dining room tablecloth and the several gas lights which graced the room the costumes and coiffures of the players were perfect too and and i feel sure many many hours were spent getting together the requis ites for both these phases of the plays production all the players took their parts well but i feel a special word of appreciation should go to
