players and timekeepers and officials trying tp keep the whole operation synaronized to that split second timing necessary to see that every boy ftas his tirrte on the ice surface i v and thats a chore with the limited time available and the hundreds of ehbryc nddcey playersv on two occasions in 1052 and 1953 rthe ipca i legion branch was honoured with the top ranking legion award in onta rio for service to the youth of their comrnunity through their he key program and it is believed thai this community yvas one of the prigiryals to begin this type of youth recreation whicjh has now spread until last winter once again the executive were forced to cut the playing time of each of the teams what the answer is would be a hard thing to say however one thing is sure with the cooperation shown in this recreational program the problem will be solved and george towns citizens of the future will continue to spend their saturday mornings in healthful recreation the history of the little since field day held at the on tario agricultural college on june 15th brought together a galaxy of lads and lasses from some twenty central and western ontario coun ties halton juniors were out in large numbers and while they did not bring home any trophies this year they were in there making it interesting for all concerned in each and every event all twenty counties were represented in the boys softball tournaments here the halton team advanced to the finals and in so doing eliminated teams from the counties of water loo north simcoe and peel how ever in the finals the lads from wentworth 1956 champs were too much for them but the halton team went down to defeat with flying colours the halton girls team cham pions in 1955 and 1956 also made their supporters very proud of them while
