2nd the girl guides and their leaders left st georges church for a twoweeks outofdoors camping trip at doe lake as well as being a very pleasant outing for the girls these camps are excellent training and this years camp was particularly so having an unexpected visitor hurricane audrey audrey taught the girls to act quicly in an emergency they ftlled sand bags and anchored their tents and made their camp safe for her nn- slaughl fortunately the girls were in a sheltered spot and their camp did not receive the full force of the storm tfae girls them selves spent thenight in the camp kitchen the only casually one empty tent blown down in the morning everyone was safe add the girls had learned a valuable lesson camp is continuing and v will break up on saturday july 13th and the campers falgar hospital presented mrs aage laursen with a baby tenda last thursday the nurses had a stork shower for her and gave her a bathinctte mrs laursen kathleen saunders has been with the oakville hospital staff for nearly six years before resign ing miss lynn gray of toronto is holidaying with mr and mrs william bradley and family during last wednesdays storm a tree was struck by lightning at the home of mr william bailey their pet collie dog had been standing underneath the tree and was instantly killed mr and mrs allan brunk of jacksonville ul and mr and mrs william brunk edna bradley and their daughter shelly of peoria 111 spent the holiday week end at the home of mr and mrs howard bradley fortytwo relations and friends gathered at the bradley home to visit with the brunks on saturday night during the even ing william brunk showed color ed films that he had taken while there during the easter holiday everyone enjoyed watermelon cof fee and cake for lunch the brunks returned home on sunday mrs rose black of niagara falls is spending the summer with her daughter mrs arthur aselton mr and mrs delbert downs and shirley left for the calgary stampede last saturday atfernoon they are planning to meet mrs glenn giles donna downs there after the stampede they are going to drive donna back to her home in vancouver they plan on being away for three weeks birthday greetings to mrs ar thur plant who celebrated hor birthday last monday and to judy saunders who will be two on the twelfth of july we are sorry to hear little miss lynne ellis is ill with the measles brian wood of bumhamthorpe is visiting for a few days at the home of mr and mrs orville grexton and family the st stephens guild met at the home of mrs arthur plant on tuesday evening july 2nd with fourteen members present the president mrs plant opened the meeting with the guilds prayer the business of the evening con sisted mostly about the booth at the milton centennial ashgrove united church hornby united church bethel united church and st stephens anglican church all used the same booth on different days on wednesday evening members from each group jointly helped in the booth the indivi dual days for each church was decided on by a draw ashgrove drew thursday hornby united friday bethel on saturday and st stephens on monday the meet ing closed with a prayer and a lovely lunch was served by the hostess assisted by chris bradley and lorraine v hie next meeting is to be held at the home of mrs ted robinson on tuesday august 6th mr and mrs hugh drewbrook andjdaughter visited with- attending mr and mrs jim gibson and fa mily of goodwood visited with the gibson family on sunday mr and mrs archie lawr and peter visited over the weekend with mr lawrs mother and father at victoria harbour mrs allan neelon and children are enjoying a holiday at london this week while mr neelon is a councillor at the united church camp five oaks at paris bjlly smith and ajlan jamieson are the two lucky boys from ballinafad who are also attending the same camp david of toronto visited on sunday with mr and mrs john black miss lone dakes and mr and mrs qakses of toronto visited with g h mr and mrs dick shortill st one day last week hiss doioa smith spent a weeks holiday in fergus with her cousins and grandmother mr and mrs ernie mcenery and family and mr and mrk cam mcen ery visltee on
