georgetown is being carried on this weet heading the local organixation is a hoard of directors comprising bruce h harding president kenneth r harrison vice-prest- dent mrs walter townend secre tary and donald wingrove treas urer the association which brought three outstanding concerts to town in its first year of organization last year is planning a similar booking this year with talent de pendant on the number of sub scribers to- the series t formed last year the associ ation believes that leading artists deserve the support of the cana dian public and should be heard in this area the association is affiliated with concert associations of canada which was formed in 1951 by wallace young well- known in education circles and for his work in school music as often as possible the most brilliant young artists are pre sented along with a featureosar- tist as it is the policy of the association to provide the most promising young people with en gagements experience and of course association last thurs day to a proposal to incorporate a new public stock cpmpany for the purpose of constructing com mercial and industrial buildings in georgetown the meeting was attended by over 60 builders subcontractors and suppliers members pledged themselves to invest a percentage of their future earnings iir stock of the company which would be capitalized for at least 1000 it was also agreed that the general public would have an opportunity at a later date to subscribe for stock in the company if they so desired a committee was appointed to pursue the plan in more detail and report main street north james russell 76 was veteran ss toolmaker james russell who had retired from his position in the tool and 8ie department of smith stone limited only two weeks ago died after a short illness in the guelph general hospital on tuesday oc tober 15th at the age of seventy- six mr russell was born in edin burgh scotland the son of cath erine shearer russell and boswell j russell he moved to stoke-on- j trenf england when he was twenty one years of ace where he married agnes lowe on july 29th 1908 mr and mrs russell and their daughter lilian came to canada and to georgetown in 1929 from the potteries of stokeontrent to smith stone limited where he had been employed ever since with the exception of a short period when he went to hamilton returning to smith stone he ernmc a member of their quar ter century club this year mr russell loved to walk and a great deal of his leisure time was spent in this way or in his garden which he loved mr russell leave his wife agnes iowc russell and one daughter lilian mrs william ritchie of 15 union street one granddaugh ter lynne and a sister miss geor- gina russell of 23 normandy blvd one son jack predeceased him in 1919 he was
