hockey league by the junior raiders last week on an an nouncement from the oha geor getown fans can expect to see some fast solid junior hockey from here on in newmarket alliston brook- land aurora unionville bowman- ville and whitby are the opposition for the rest of the year but the club isnt too worried over the re ports of the rugged brtlnd of hock ey played in this loopthe junior raiders are no patsies themselves and if the two prescason games against intermediate teams can be taken as any indication the jrs wont be playing doormat for any body they even have the materia to grab a slice of the first division and a playoff birth it they stay healthy the jrs were allowed a shot at the big 7 after refusal to play threats from the club executive when oha brass suggested george town take on intermediate c or junior b competition before their time the junior c 7 was already in full swing before the announce ment was made meaning reshuffl ing of the rest of the schedule to give council a transfusion v vote for r macdonald warwick a thanks for electing me by acclamatiorv as mayor for 1958 jack armstrong j to the citizens of georgetown i wish to thank you for the acclamation to the office of deputy reeve your support in my past four years on council has been appreciated and i will continue to support that which is a benefit to the citizens of georgetown both in local council and county council wishing you all the compliments of the season yours truly walter gray to the electors of georgetown once again i am placing myself before you to ask for your support in the coming municipal election it would be impossible to visit you all individually and ex plain the stands i have taken on various issues this past year and which i hope to be able to continue to support or pro pose for 1958 if anyone feels they would like to have an explanation of anything i have done in 1957 or what i hope to be able to do in 1958 it would be my pleasure to come and talk to you individually or4n groups in principle i still feel we must be prepared to carry small capital costs out of current revenue on major items such as schools sewerage etc before we proceed with the work we must be sure of the sale of the necessary debenture tfie agreement with delrex developments must be adhered to or any counter proposal on the part of the developer must be carefully considered and must be equally beneficial to the corporation the brief as presented to council by the developer to alter the original agreement is flimsy and ridiculous and if accep ted would place the corporation as a whole in a very precar ious position for years to come the point i wish to draw to your attention here is that del rex developments agreed to maintain a ratio of 40 commercial industrial assessment 60 residential assessment statistics show for actual construction in the delrex area the ratio to be 81 residential 19 commercial industrial i would favour a 10 year plan to completely storm sewer our streets on a payasyougo out of current revenue basis and priority be given to promises made by this and previous councils if you believe my conclusions and policies are a benefitho you and tho town of georgetown i ask foroufsupoort on taction day whatever your choice may be go out and vote seasons greetings to everyone ern hyde 4 i j j 1 ai sfrgaa kmixmsmsm
