end the children back to school the cool september nights these signs herald the coming of geor getown fall pair few organizations can boast well over a century of continuous oper ation as does the fall fair spon sored by bsquesing agricultural society the fair is part of the community life drawing the rural and urban together this year the fair is scheduled for octdber 23 and already exhib itors are getting their exhibits ready for the big ball display of domestic science ladies work flo wers vegetables childrens work etc iprize lists will be off the press this weekend and may toe procured from the secretary tre vor williams parkview blvd this years show will present a countny music show on friday evening in front of ihe grandstand with toronto and local artists tak ing part the big midway will be in operation and the hall will be open for advance inspection wbile saturday will be the main day of the show with horse races- livestock shows poultry shows and other features the society hopes the friday show will receive just patronage the fall fair has always been a place of moeting new friends and renewing old and the new citizens of our town will not only be wel comed at the fair buthey will enjoy tbe varied program presen ted there for information in regards to showing at the fair and entering the various classes get in touch with the secretary enrolment is over 1 700 in five town public schools the mail bag enrolment at georgetowns five public schools this year is no lon ger tbe sensitive situation that had delegations of irate parents beat ing a path to the board room door in 1958 at a meeting of the public school board last wednesday evening the principals reported that registrat ions this year were producing no startling deviations from the expec ted enrolment and in some cases tbe numbers were slightly below the anticipated figure the george kennedy public bchool built this summer is the re medy the ten room structure in the extreme east end of delrex will handle close to 200 pupils most of whom were at harrison school last year the latter school however will still have the largest enrol ment of the five and by september 1st had accepted 506 wriggles- worth to the same date had 420 chapel street 305 and park 280 harrison has experienced a slight increase in kp enrolment antt will probably go to two full time kind ergartens last year harrison op erated one full time kp and one part time first baptist church were allow ed use of the corridors on the ground floor of the new kennedy school for a sunday school and church if suitable arrangements ran ibe made with the caretaker trousseau tea honours idea mrs clifford wrigglesworth georgetown ft r 2 entertained at a trousseau tea on sunday august 30th in honour of her daughter joan the guests were welcomed at the door by joan and her moth er those pouring tea at the jftcr- roon reception were mrs james marshall mother of the gloom and mrs p w merry aunt o the brides mother in the evening mrs robert marshall aunt of the room and mrs harold wilson aunt of the bride poured tea the guests were served by mjs jeanpeterson jean bngden jean bird and betty rojcc in he af- ernoon ja- infes carney imiss kathleen marshall was in charge of the brides personal trouseau and misses marilyn and diane wrigglesworth showed the shower and wedding gifts over 150 relatives and friends have cal led to see the bride to bes many lovely and useful wedding and shower gifts sl andrews united church are presently using harrison public school in a similar unrdertakmg the only vacant assistant pnn cipals position was filled when the board appointed mrs m taylor as assistant to william kin- rade at wrigglesworth a slight change of location and an acreage incease from 4vi to 6 acres were two suggestions made by the board when they reviewed a tentative site for georgetowns sixth public school included in a proposed plan of subdivision on the moore farm at the western entrance to town subdivision in that area however is still forma tive and nothing has been accep ted by the planning board the board granted use of wrig glesworth auditorium to the night school committee for a new course this year ballroom dancing the classes will be held tuesday nights and last years square dancing classes will continue this year on thursdays kennedy principal hazen allen was given the nod to proceed with furnishing the staff room and pnn cipals office at a cost of not more than 900 the next meeting of the board will be held at harrison public school on wednesday october 7th these young helping hands amongst the young folks most of them these days when as ked to do anything for you the first thing they say how much do i get for doing il volunteers offer help in sharp contrast to the groups of youngsters who scoured the grounds of the memorial park in sidney early on july 2 in search of anything removable were four young people about 12 years of age who hied themselves to sanscha hall two boys upstairs in the lounge and two girls in the main hall were busily engaged in cleaning up the debris left from the beachcom bers ball not only did they stack chairs clear off tables collect pop bottles and dispose of rubbish but the floors were swept and the main hall floor wet mopped to inquiries as to why they were there and by whom they had been sent the youngsters replied that no one sent us we just knew there would be lots of work to be done this morning the helpful young people who deserve credit and public recogni tion were debbie thomas susanne eres jack elder and the register the bride wore chantilly lace over slipper satin a sabrina neck line sparkling with exquisitely de signed pearls and sequins the skirt was bouffant with tiers of lace and accordion pleated tulle a fingertip veil was caught into a crown encrusted with jewels she carried a bouquet of better time roses and stephanotis styled in a full cascade mrs doug trimble aurora was matronofhonour sheila carney mrs ron dixon sisterinlaw of the bride and susan cunningham the grooms sister were brides maids mrs trimble wore shrimp cotton lace with wide taffeta cum- berbund ending at the back with a large bow bridesmaids were in lurquoise small while feather band hats were worn by the four attendants and white accessories they all wore sterling silver cul tured pearl necklaces and pearl earrings gifts of the bride they carried crescent bouquets mrs trimble of shrimp and white car nations and tbe others turquoise and white ross cunningham was grooms man for his brother ushers were david cunningham ron and jim dixon brothers of the bride and groom they wore white jackets and black trousers and shrimp bout torn eres mr dixon gave his daughter in marriage in the double ring cere mony receiving in st pauls parish hall the brides mother wore dior blue brocaded organza over taf feta with matching duster and pink accessories and a corsage of pink rosettes and stephanotis the grooms mother wore beige lace over taffeta beige accessories and a corsage of tawny gold roses travelling to saranac lake and lake placid for their honeymoon exhibition specials 5q off
