their towns in dustriat production and this unique exhibition of the varied output of ten local industries drew business and industrial people trom toronto 30 miles away georgetown i industrial lx hibilion was another move in the spirited efforts of this otitario community to create a 46 60 industrial residential as sessment ratio the joint effort or the local chamber of com megte and of builderdeveloper rex w rleslop whose delrex developments limited is pri manly responsible lor george town s doubled population since 1955 the exhibition was held september 1825 georgetown chamber of com merce had considered such a display for some months to ac quaint townspeople with just what their local industries were doing rex heslop who left a town of 35 000 people and more than 100 inrustrtes in his rex dale community of metropolitan i toronto to create delrex georgetown made the opening i of the si 1 million delrex mr- iket centre the occasion for the exhibition deferring one 80year beau mont knitting company water power from the credit river originally energized this mill but georgetown was the site of canada s first industrial hydro plant in 1890 and the beau mont mrfl bad long since been electrified pcnrice and graham found i ample opportunity to modern ue hteir equipment however and have expandd production even to some u s markets for their work and sports stock ings they met the industrial exhibition idea with enlhusi asm a five foot high knitting machine was rcmov cd from their production line and re assembled on the exhibition floor throughout the eight
