thursday april 27lh 1961 editorial comment support a good thing sos everyone reads an advertise ment in this week t herald for a meeting to organize night school activities for next all and according to a spokesman for the present committee they mean what they after several years of successful activi ty there is a real possibility thai night school may fold unless more interest is shown by a larger group of men and worn en present committee members feel they are 1oo few in numbers and that ihey have been carrying loo big a load and they are frankly discouraged at th enrolment for 960 61 which not only was the lowest yet bul which saw many people drop out of courses they had started before the end of the term it would be a great pity if night school were to be inoperative in fulure georgetown has been foremost m this field of afier hours activity a great variety of things were avail able r metal and woodworking welding typewriting drama square and ballroom dancing painting hat making public speak ing to mention only a few courses were limited only by the number who enrolled there is no place where more qualified instructors are readily available town and district has many skilled teachers and we are close enough to three metropolitan centres to be able to economically bring teachers from hamillon guelph and tor anlo when needed nol only have georgetown people benefilled by learning and perfecting skills but a side effect of the classes has been a meeting place for new and older residents of town k are certain there are many who would gladly help serve on the organize lion committee some may be bashful and thmk they would be accused of pushi themselves the majority probably feel as in any activity thai the committee is doing a good ob and doesn t need more help neither is the case and they can be assured of a warm welcome when they attend the meeting crfited on wednesday may 3rd if georgetown u to continue iti sue cessful ntghl school record then
