it sheraton xing edward hotel toronto john s porter 16 a grade 11 student at anderson collegiate vocational institute whitby captured top honours in the prepared speech section at the rone 4 provincial iemlfmal or atorjeal contest held at ander son collegiate vocational insti tute in whitby on friday night he duplicated his speaking ach ievement of c last year when he took first place in the prepared speech section in the zanc com petition and earned the right to enter the 1986 ontario final oratorical contest the other zone final winner this year was roger j smith i grade 13 student at george- itown district high school who won the impromptu speech sec tlon despite the inclement weath r 18 contestants took part in the zone public speaking com petition they were from high i town milton newmarket oak ville oshawa whitoy and woo- dbndgc there were 10 speak ers in the prepared speech sec hon and nine in the impromptu section wlni second tim repeating his feat of last year john
