georgetown sweeps bantam tourney with three awards best team mvp asseltine trophy georgetown bantams in the local international hockey tour nament covered themselves with glory sat as they copped the ov erall prize of being grand cham pions of a week of competition in which 46 teams took part georgetown who were in the c division began their climb to the top of the ladder by defea ting markharh 102 in the two game series next scrievwas be- tween georgetown and hesnel- er the locals won out by a 126 score the third series between georgetown and milton was an easy 143 win and this put the local squad into the finals of the c division against leam- ingtoo in the leamington game ge orgetown played poorly in the first two stanzas as leamington went into 10 lead georgetown struck for two early goals the third as korzack and inglis combined at 315 and inglis al ono at 650 leamington came back to knot the score at 13 09 to put game into overtime juri kudrasovs put george town out in front at 130 and the c championship for the second year in a row over leai ingtoiavho were abo last years runner up playing against a champion hamilton for the right to advan ce into the grand championship bracket georgetown won out by 30 tally the locals went into the lead 1215 of the first period as inglis combined with korz ack two markers were chalked up in the second stanza as jerry nell notched one on a pass from kudrasovs and korzack at 1330 and again at 14 35 beaumont as slsting the third slania was scoreless 1 this victory put georgetown into the all tourney final in the evening against lcvack d winners who had defeated rich mond hill b in the other bracket the final pitting georgetown and lcvack was strictly too much georgetown as the locals defeated lcvack in a decisive manner 60 georgetown settled down to play for this game and showed that they meant business by potting four markers- in the first period with llewellyn not ching the first assisted by fcnd- ley and sargent at 107 kudra sovs from inglis at 517 moody from foster and ward at 840 and kudrasovs from llewellyn to complete the first stanza georgetown coasted through the second period hut potted 2 more in the third as kudrasovs got his 3rd of the night assisted by beaumont fcndlcy from korzack and kudrasovs com pleted the scoring for the game at 1017 this victory for georgetown was the first in the grand cham pionship play jn the eight year tourney and was a great climax after a disappointing series ag ainst bowmanville in the omiia playdowns the locals were de feated in that best of five series by a 32 games ray inglis was selected by tourney official u the player most valuable to his team ben ny heppcs was selected as the player most gentlemanly with good play congratulations to ron
