WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1996 THE GEORGETOWN GEMINI 11 New school year means new student gov't BISHOP REDING NEWS BY JULIA SKIKAVICH Special to The Gemini The start of a new school year also marks the rise of a new student government at Bishop Reding. After beating out X in elec- tions last June, the Magi take the throne. Consisting of five OAC students; Andy Kerslake (Prime Minister), Corrie Parton (Deputy PM), Graham Darling (Public Re- lations Minister), Mike Doyle (Finance Minister) and Christine Hohendorf as Sec- retary, they hope to create an atmosphere at BR that will made it more enjoyable to attend. Although Magi intends to make it a fun year, they can- not help but stress that for them to be able to do this they need the student body to be- come more involved. Whether that isby running for student rep, joining one of many committees, or just participating in spiritdays and planned activities, that in- volvement is what will allow them to function at peak per- formance. Of the many goals that Magi have for the year, one ofthe most prominenton their minds is the hope of getting students on out-of-school excursions, one of the poten- tial choices for these excur- sions being the Cinesphere at Ontario Place. The second major goal is having a live band perform at Bishop Reding. WINNERS: Poster contest winners from the Georgetown Fall Fair recieved their just rewards recently at Stewarttown Middle School. Fair Ambassador Laura Lee Campbell was on hand to honour, from left: Lindsay Brown, Campbell, Diana Sterrit, Becky Holgate and Jeff Boyce.
