(Jamie Harrison photo) Minor Novice Raiders ready The Georgetown Minor Nov- ice Raiders are starting their season as a team to be reck- oned with. Strong showings in exhibition play against Burlington and Oakville, and two tough games with Brampton show that the team is ready for regular season play. In their first pre-season game the Raiders played host to Brampton, but came up short despite outshooting their opponents, resulting in a 4-0 loss for the home side. In their second meeting, the team fought a close game with a final score of 2-1 for Brampton. The team got off to an interesting start in this second game as an equip- ment irregularity found the Georgetown team with out a goalie for the first two min- utes of play. Brampton popped one between the posts easily but were held to one Rebel scores Junior Field Hockey GDHS 1 v. Assumption 2 Senior Field Hockey GDHS 0 v. Assumption 6 GDHS 1 y. A quick shot by Jeff Bailey from Brett Reynolds should have tied the game were it not for the Brampton empty netter. The team's first exhibition win came against Burlington with a 2-0 final. Scoring for Georgetown were Michael Larose from Mitchell Thompson, and Peter Bailey from Brady Gingras. Alex Bulgarelli was rock solid in net for the shut-out. Georgetown looked strong against Oakville in an excit- ing 1-1 tie, with Michael Larose scoring the lone marker with help from Peter Bailey and Ryan Putnam. The four exhibition games indicate that the league will be highly competitive and provide lots ofexcitement for the players and parents. Ch aC mC CLK Junior Girl's Volleyball GDHS 15 v. A soft goal close to the end took the wind out of the Rebels sails in a game that the juniors played well enough to win. The Senior Girls were unable to keep it as close as Assumption defeated them 6-0. Assumption scored two undefendable goals in the first half despite hard work from an aggressive Rebel team. The game was much closer in the first half than the score indicated. Assumption dominated in the second half with four unan- swered goals.
