TTiey can't find good, full-time jobs for the summer so in many cases they are taking jobs that high school students would normally get. The latest job statistics do not include what are known as clearance orders; these are jobs that are listed in Acton and Georgetown and at other student, job centres. Jauemig also says the statistics do not give a total view of the local job market because 80 per cent of all available jobs are not listed with the Canada Employment Centre for Students. Each Friday a job search counsellor with the YMCA's Youth Employment Services is at the ASSIC office offering employment help. The "Y" offers pre-employment training that includes how to find available jobs, resume writing, and interview skills. A video tape and photo of a woman wanted for using a stolen credit card at the olde Hide House will be featured as next week's crime of the week by Halton Crimestoppers. The June 24 surveillance tape shows two young couples as they entered the store. One of the women bought $257 worth of leather goods with a credit card she said belonged to her father who wanted to buy her a graduation gift. A routine cheque of the card showed it has not been stolen and the sale went through. A little later the suspect tried to use the same credit card to pay for $1,044 worth of leather goods at another cash register but store security refused to allow the second purchase because the woman was not the card holder. Hours later the suspect tried to use the card at a Guelph clothing store but that sale was refused because the card was at its limit. The suspect left the card at the store. Staff called Visa and an investigation led to the real card holder, who did not know that his card had been stolen. Globe and Mail takes a beating Halton police are investigating the theft of $100 from four Globe and Mail newspaper boxes in Acton. Overnight Friday someone pried the boxes open and took the cash. Police have no witnesses or suspects. Mustang rounded up Peel police have recovered a car that was stolen from an Acton man's Mill Street home Friday night. The victim reported his 1989 Mustang stolen Saturday morning. Forty five minutes later the car was found abandoned in Mississauaga. Police say the only damage to the car was a broken ignition lock. This Bud's for you Damage in the amount of $500 was done to the rear window of an Eden Mills man's car when he left it parked at the rear of the Acton IGA lot overnight Friday. "I can not tell a lie" A 7-year-old Acton boy who accused two others of breaking a window at the Acton High School on Friday has confessed to the crime. The boy said he saw a teenager and a construction worker break the window but when questioned by his parents admitted he had done it. The boy was cautioned by police.
