Dianne Allan connected for a grand slam to lead the Acton side to victory in this game. Melissa Pawlakalso stroked a homer. Tara Service and Amy Yeatman were both strong at the plate for the locals, while excellent fielding plays were recorded by Stephanie McKay and Danica Albano. The local squad played Milton again on Wednesday and annihilated them by a 21-6 margin. Acton Pharmacy pins down Midland Acton Pharmacy shut out their Midland Walwin opponents 5-0 last Tuesday in Atom minor soccer action. Darren Banks scored twice, adding two assists, Bruce Milliganalso scored twice and a lone goal was put in by Jason Mota. Daniel Hastings assisted twice in the win, while Rory Dick picked up his second shutout of the season. Dianne Allan led the way with another homer in this contest, while Kristen Mitchell and Amy Yeatman had big games at the plate for the locals. Acton had good back-up in the field by Debbie Mashinter, Melissa Pawlak, Ricki Lee Petchand Kelly Holmes. The Acton girls are in first place in their league, with two final contests scheduled for next week. Tonight (Tuesday) the squad hosts Glen Williams, presently sitting in second spot. Siding edges Limehouse by 17-16 count BP Siding edged out Limehouse by a score of 17-16 last Tuesday in Atom minor softball action in Prospect Park. Kenny MacKenzie cracked a triple while Dave Cole smashed a double to lead Acton to the win. Paul Payne, Roy Wigood, Ryan Spinney, Mark Bailey and Adam Spinney each hit singles for Acton in the victory. Todd Demone leads Blue to big win in ball hockey action BY DEVON AMBROSE The Acton Men's Ball Hockey League this week saw Green wiping out Yellow, Black downing Red and Blue crushing White. In the first match up, Green whipped Yellow by a 6-1 margin. Bruce Jackson, Gord Anderson, Scott Rowsell, Tim Tibbits, Paul Iredale and Benny Dubil each slapped one past Yellow's netminder. Assists were registered by Jackson, Rowsell, Tibbits, Iredale, John McLean, Paul Campbell and James Nicholson. Getting the lone goal for Yellow was Colin Lewis, assisted by Craig Coltson and Kevin Gallaway. In the second game of the night, Black banged in six to take the win over Red 6-4. Derek Robson, Mike Gair, Kelly Jupp, Wayne Bousfield, Shawn Fosberry and Paul Glass each scored one for the winners, while Jamie Cook, Mike Kinnon, Bousfield, Robson and Glass each contributed with lone helpers. Scoring for Red were Dennis Swinamer and Pete Vandereyken each with a pair, while Brian Kuechler, Norm McLeod, Jerry Vandereyken and Bruce Cameron each helped with assists. The third and final game of the night saw Blue blowing away White by a final count of 16-3. Todd Demone bulged the twine with five goals in the one-sided affair, while Brad Cripps and Steve Taillefereach slapped in hat-tricks. Campbell's Soup, Grand Valley record shut-outs BY DEVON AMBROSE Home Hardware battled to a 2-2 tie with Merit Industrial in Squirt minor soccer action on Wednesday. Matthew Dayman and Shelly Dagenais both shared the goal tending, backing up excellent play from Jason Drechsel and Brian Field to help set up goals by Blaine Murray and Torrin Doppelt for Home Hardware. Scoring for Merit were Jenna Grossman and Kyle Larose. In other Squirt soccer action Guelph OPP were shut out by Rockwood Campbell's Soup 5-0. The grass was long and the night was longer for Guelph OPP at the Eramosa field. OPP's defense played well but succumbed to five unanswered goals. Star players for Campbell's included John Field and Jordan Rietkerk. Chris Gidden, Christophe Laurenceau and Joel Hateley had good games for the OPP. Blue Springs Flowers were blown out by Grand Valley 8-0 in more Squirt soccer action last week. Goalie Brandon Dick, midfield Shannon Grey and Andrew Draper as forward were excellent, challenging the strong plays of Grand Valley's offensive attackers. Lions Club chew up Kilbride 21-7 in Atom ball action Acton Lions Club destroyed the visiting Kilbride team by a score of 21-7 on Thursday in Atom mi-norsoftball action at Prospect Park. Chad Greenwood launched a homer, a triple and a pair of singles in the Acton victory, while David Schmuki and Ryan Turpin also cracked round-trippers and singles. Michael Kentner and Justin Lockerbie each bashed doubles for the local side, while David Wells, Jason Wells, Craig Lockwood and David Albano each hit a pair of singles in the crushing of Kilbride. Stevenson kicks in winning goal for Bulls Acton Town Milk defeated Acton Veterinary Clinic 1-0 in Mini-Squirt minor soccer action last Monday evening. Playing her usual strong game, Dawn Stevenson scored the winning goal for Town Milk, while Jeff Brill and Brian Hunt also played well for the Bulls. Garreth Marks flipped in two and Rob Evans, Brad Demone and Lorne Gordon each put in lone goals in the victory. Assists were registered by Brian Demone, Todd Demone, Jamie Gallaway, Troy MacDougall, Cripps, Taillefer, Evans, and Gordon. Both Acton and Milton teams were missing players due to the holiday season and with a strong-wind blowing across the field, all players worked hard with no substitutes. Jenny Goy once again led the scoring for Acton, followed quickly by Natalie Cameron. Milton rallied and slipped through Acton's defence to find the back of the local net once. Milton kept working hard to tie the game but Lori Allen clinched the game for Acton with a breath-taking shot just out of the Milton goalie's reach. Tammy Allen once again stepped in to play goal for the Acton side and was a major contributing factor in breaking Milton's winning streak.
