Milton put up a fight against this strong Acton team, but had no substitutes to keep up the energy level and although the first half saw little action in the nets, the second half belonged to Acton. Eileen Campbell, playing on the local side's forward line, made her presence felt by scoring four goals. Karolyn Kinnon, Paula Hardy, Tammy Allan and Jenny Goy each kicked single goals past the Milton netminder. All Stars can't catch Woolwich Leathertown Feed and Pet Supply's Under-12 All-Star team met their Woolwich rivals in Elmira on Wednesday night but lost a close one by a 4-3 margin. Acton got off to a slow start in this contest, allowing Woolwich to gain the lead. Gradually the team gained momentum and the second half saw some excellent work by the Acton players, coming close to a victory. Devon Fraser was the first to find the back of the Woolwich net and Bobby McDougall headed a perfect ball past the Woolwich goalie. Adam Milligan managed one more for Acton but it was not enough to catch the strong Woolwich team. Atom girls sneak past Limehouse The Acton Atom Girls minor softball team played host to the visiting Limehouse club at Prospect Park on Wednesday and squeaked by the visitors to win by a count of 12-11. The Acton team was led by Charla Banks and Ashley Al & Al's shut out Acton's Al & Al's Meats absorbed a tough loss of 4-0 at the hands of Grand Valley on Wednesday in Peewee minor soccer action. With only nine players, Acton met the strongest team in the league and felt the consequences. All Acton players tried their best, but Grand Valley held a two-player advantage. Outstanding players for Acton were Bobby Bard, Michael Morrow and Brian Mclntyre. ACTON TOWN MILK Small Town Friendly Convenience Store Pilkington, who each clobbered home runs in the contest. Outstanding pitching was demonstrated by Banks, Pilkington and Tara Hargrave to cinch the win. There is one regular season match-up remaining before playoffs for the Atom girls. Candy not slacking as she leads Red-Hots to 17-15 win BY KAREN SMITH The Red Hots had no trouble with Nonna's Pizza last Tuesday in Acton Ladies Recreational Softball action. Candy Slack was not slacking, as she went 4-4 at the plate to lead the Red Hots to a 17-15 win. Contributing for Nonna's was Anissa Poloni pounding a round-tripper. On Wednesday, in spite of Tammy Biffis' homerand double, and Denise Paton's triple and double, Remax couldn't stop Four Seasons from winning 18-6. Joyce Iglesias coached the ladies to their win and scored three runs herself, as did Sue Robson and Debbie Train. Ballinifad defeated Marauders 12-5 on Thursday in Ballinifad. Sandra Prowse was leading scorer with three runs and Vera Longstreet, Elaine Bowman and Kathy Dueck each had two runs. Four Seasons defeated Random 15-8 on Thursday at McKenzie-Smith. Debbie Train, with two doubles, chalked up three runs, as did Gail Weber. Carol Paisley and Linda Robson each garnered two runs for Seasons. Heather Webster led her Random teammates with a round-tripper and a double and crossed the plate three times. Robin Burke crossed the plate for two runs. Andy's scored five times in the first two innings of this game, with Peter Cargill doubling, Colin Lewis doubling twice, and Steve Wilson doubling and homering to "get the early lead. Georgetown scored three times in the fourth off winning pitcher Mike Manes, but reliever Dick Spear gave up only a single run in the final three frames to preserve the win. Terry Haines pitched well in relief for Rent-All, allowing only two runs. The Acton Roadrunners blanked the Ballinafad Blue Jays 6-0 in Friday action. Jerry Marshall pitched a shutout and homered to lead the first-place Roadrunners to victory. Marshall also had 17 strikeouts of the 21 outs to dominate opposing hitters. Brian Hilts broke up a no-hitter with a double in the third. Sunday's first game saw the Blue Jays knock off Andy's Haulage by a 15-7 count. The win was only Ballinafad's second of the year, as the club's hot bats led the way, batting around in the third inning to cross the plate eight times. Gord Smith scored three times for the winners, while Mark Hilts, Fred Kendricks, Tom Cull and Lou Tyler collected two runs each. Georgetown Rent-All then blasted the Blue Jays 7-1 in the day's second match-up. Rent-All counted five runs in the sixth inning to best the tired Jays. Lou Tyler homered for Ballinafad, while Jeff Haines stroked a round-tripper for Rent-All. Game Three saw the Warriors edge Rent-All 2-1 in the second game of a double-header for the Georgetown side.
