Submitted photo Acton skaters strike gold, silver, bronze By BARB METELKA Special to the Tanner Eight Acton figure skat- ers travelled to Uxbridge last weekend to compete in the annual Uxbridge Invitational Competition. This group of young ladies, all of whom skate with the newly formed Halton Hills Skating Acad- emy (HHSA). The young ladies per- formed admirably and pro- duced some outstanding and unprecedented results. These talented athletes came through once again om off an Acton sweep! chrempf took the Bronze, McGilloway the Silver and Malcolm won Gold Overall with her spirited "Riverdance" _ inspired freeskate. HHSA coach Cindy Currie was thrilled with the results and said that this was a first for Acton and that eve- ryone should be extremely proud. Other HHSA competitors were: Cora Rutledge who won two Bronze medals, one - her freeskate in the La- ies Open category and one for her Silver aAristic por- trayal of "Mafia Girl"; Holly Bailie who skated to a sixth lace finish in the Pre-Pre- iminary Ladies category; Tracy Schrempf, skating in the Juvenile Ladies level for her first competition; and Jessie Metelka, who com- peted at the Junior Ladies Acton indoor Soccer UNDER 10 Nathan Reinders was hot, scoring five goals to lead Acton Veterinary Clinic to a hard-fought 8-7 win against MacMillian's Frozen Foods and Vegetables in Indoor Soccer action on Saturday in the McKenzie-Smith Bennett gym. Team mate Kyle Nap found the net three times and had three assists while Cameron O'Rouke and Matthew Newman each had single assists. The Dickieson brothers were tough to beat with persistent and agressive play for McMillian's. Jordan Dickieson scored five of his team's goals, assisted on several of the markers by brother Josh who also scored one goal. Dan Patterson had a single goal and three assists. Tim Medland scored a hat trick to lead the Blue team to a 9-0 romp over the White team in Under-10 action on Saturday at MSB. Nils-Olay Stockinger and Garrett Nuttal each scored twice whle Brydon Pole and Mitchell Thomas each had singles. UNDER-13 Justin Goodlet had a hat trick to lead the White team to a 3-1 win over Lakesview Flooring on Saturday at MSB. Derek Thomas had the lone marker for Lakeview. Both Joe Douglas and Daniel Nikic both scored hat tricks in a fast-paced, well- played game. Nikic also had an assist while team mate Kim Jaskulski found the net twice and Matt Youngblutt had a single and two assists. Torin Doppelt also had an assist. Musicland's goals came from Denise Barens, who also had an assist, and Rachel Turner, Thomas Ferrier and Katy Boychuk. ADULT MIXED Chris Carde scored four goals and had two assists to lead the Green team to an 11- 9 win over the Turquoise team in adult mixed soccer action on Sunday at MSB. Ken Dagleish had a hat trick while team mates Adam Mulligan and Shawn Thompson each had singles. Simon Entwistle found the net four times to lead the Blue team to a 9-6 victory over the Orange team in adult mixed action on Sunday at MSB. Ian Watson and Cathy Paul each scored twice and Andrea McLean had a single. Kris Adema scored three goals for the Orange team. Graham Smith found the net twice and Kyle Menken had a single.
