The Town's March break °98 brochure offers fun and enriching activities for tots to teens, and is a great guide for planing the spring break week. "Tf I didn't have to work I'd love to go to the Arte Espana Spanish Dance Academy," said Stacey Green, the Town's Recrea- tion Supervisor said in an interview on Monday when asked what she'd like. to be doing forthe break. yy The Academy's March break progam includes an introduction to Spanish dance technique including footwork, castanets and arm and hand movements and choreography. "We always offer the old favourites -- skating and swimming because both are so popular," Green said. Once again the Rotary Club of Acton is generously paying for ice rental in Acton so you can skate for free every day during March break. Monday to Friday the Acton Arena is open for fee skating from 1-2 p.m. and from 8- 9:20 p. on Saturday and from 1- 2:20 p.m. on Sunday. , For those who want to get = wet; the- Actor Indoor Pool has a number of special events and themes planned for daily swims scheduled from 2-4 p.m. Check with pool staff at 853-3140 for details. Green said that they tried to include a wide range of programs from half to full days and even hourly to meet everyone's needs. "The programs offered are good value for your money with excellent prices and ex- cellent instruction that really cater to the children's needs for fun and skills develop- ment, and to the parents' need for quality supervision," Green said. "We're offering more pro- grams for teens this March break, including a fitness and personal grooming program at the Total Feminine Look Flamingo Dance Studio," Green said, adding there is also a five-day program in aikido, the modern martial art of gentle self-defencej. The sports programs in- clude a baseball camp for those aged 8-15, offered daily at Georgetown and District High, gymnastics programs, horseback riding and bowl- ing. There are special prices all week at Acton Bowling Lanes. March break in Mexico is the theme at the Acton li- brary, which has a weeklong fiesta, planned' including Mexican crafts and games. Two hour-long crafts ses- sion are planned for the Acton library on March 17 at 10:45 a.m. and on March 18 at 2 p.m. Children will create Aztec sun gods from foil and will also do some yarn art during the free pro- grams which are designed for children five and older. March 20 will be Fiesta Day at the Acton Library with an hour-long program of games, pifiatas and Mexi- can music. In-person regis- tration is underway for the library programs and proof of age may be required. Green said a highlight of the week for many may be the March 16 visit of popular cartoon heroine Sailor Moon to the Georgetown Market Place.
