These victories give the team a berth in the Tri County finals against arch rivals Milton. Home ice ad- vantage for that series will be decided next Thursday as these two teams meet in the last game of the preliminary round in Milton. Last Tuesday in Acton, our Bantams squeaked past Grand Valley 3-1 thanks to a late tie-breaking goal from Simon Drexler. Big Matt Thatcher added the insur- ance with an empty netter while Stephen Monaghan continued his red hot scoring pace by popping in the open- ing marker. Assisting on the goals were Greg Barens, Matt Hebden, Chris Stanhope, Monaghan and a pair from Ryan Weatherall. On Saturday in Elora, it was more last minute hero- ics as Acton came from be- hind to win 4-2 . This time around, it was Andrew Forbes' unassisted goal with only a minute left that pro- vided the margin of victory. Thatcher once again potted an empty netter while Mona- ghan and Hebden rounded out the scoring. Three bowlers win By ELLEN PIEHL The Acton Tanner Things were buzzing at the Acton Bowling Lanes in the month of February as there were winners in both youth and adults leagues. Starting with the youth bowlers, Acton had three winners at the Four-Steps- To-Stardom Regionals. The Bantam Boys won in the team category, Kyle Harding won in Bantam Boys' Sin- gles and Kylie Kruk won in Junior Girls' Singles. Kruk was last year's Bantam Girls' National Singles Champion. All three winners will compete in the Provincials on March 22. The Bantam boys will be in Cambridge, Kyle Harding will be in Kitchener- Waterloo, and Kylie Kruk will be in Stratford. In adult league, Keith Gamble and Jane Vickery were King and Queen of the Lanes (most improved bowl- ers) for February. Keith was +10 and Jane was +8. Finally, Bob Merrkin is February's turkey winner. Treth McDougall, Neil Armstrong and Michael Wood each scored twice. Assists went to Wood and McDougall with two each, Bradley Near, Dennis Hunak and Nigel Wiliams. Amanda Schroeder took a two-minute penalty for kneeing. Ryan Stroud and Michael Bentley scored for the Graphic Shoppe and Nick Harris had an assist.
