Despite an injury Kylie's solid performance last year at the Nationals earned her the bantam championship, and Kylie is confident, but ~ not cocky, when asked to size up her competition this year as a junior. "Ym confident because I've already done it and I know I can do it again, this time without a broken fin- ger," Kylie explained in an interview on Thursday. "1'm more excited than nervous. They say that bowl- ing is 80 per cent mental fo- cus and concentration and 20 per cent skill. I don't have it all yet because I do cry and get upset when I don't bowl well, but I'm getting there." Kylie will bowl 22 games in the May 4, 5 and 6, com- petition, meeting the best from each province in her junior age group. Kylie, who practices at least 10 hours a week, began bowling six years ago for fun with her parents and became serious about the sport two years ago after a second place finish in zone competition.
