McKenzie-Smith Bennett kicks off Education Week to- morrow (Friday) with a book fair in the library. Teacher/ librarian Holly Colquhoun said the big day would be Wednesday's literacy day. "We will have parents coming in to the school with their kids to do silent read- © ing beginning at 7:45 a.m.," Colquhoun said. "There are about 30 work- shops and presentations planned throughout the day and students will dress up as their favourite story book character. We have speakers coming into the school -- we have multi-media people coming from the board to do computer things and a thea- tre company is coming and will do some mask making with the students," she said. At Robert Little students will stage two performances of the operetta The Canada Goose next Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. A book fair runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Halton Catholic Board The separate system's education week begins on Sunday to emphasize the par- ish connection in Catholic education. The focus this year is "Catholic Education: Open To The Spirit" Board Chair Jim Sherlock said the theme underlines how Catholic schools enrich the meaning of life, not only for Catholics and Christians, but for all of society. Education week planning is still underway at St. Joseph's school, but it will hold an open house on May 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. St. Joseph's Principal Robert Maggio said the open house will centre on the Vati- can's Jubilee 2000 with a special liturgy.
