Reding jumped ahead 3- 0 but then Acton's Ben Muggridge set up Brian McIntryre to score. "The back line was able to get the ball to the wings and then cross it in to the middle," said coach Gord Swanson after the game. "There was a bit of a serym in front (of the net) but Sara waRe AUBAneraiRe able to get it into the bottom corer of the net." The senior boys played to © a scoreless draw against Iroquois Ridge last Wednes- day in a game that featured great defensive play. "The back line - Andre Savard, Mike Morrow and Sandy Chapman - were out- standing," Swanson said. "They were able to cover their players and stifle any attacks that Iroquois tried to mount. They got in there and won the ball for us when the mid-field weren't able to get _ back." JUNIOR BOYS Acton's junior boys' team easily defeated Milton 6-2 on Monday, despite a slow start. Acton was down 2-0 early in the game but rallied with six unanswered goals for the win. Jeff Payne scored twice with long kicks while singles were scored by Caley French, Ryan Sampson, Shawn Gray and Andrew Watson. "The victory was a total team effort," said coach Dave Boycott after the game, prais- ing the team's great improve- ment in positioning, passing and hustling. SENIOR GIRLS The senior Redmen girls' team never really got off the ' ground this season. Tues- day's schedule game was scrapped because Acton _ again could not field a team. Acton forfeited Thursday's scheduled game against Oakville Trafalgar for the same reason. Coach Colin Bain said it doesn't look 'good for the team because illnesses, extra curricular activities, work commitments and holidays will likely mean they don't have enough players. The senior team opened the sea- son with a 4-0 loss to Bishop Reding and was then bombed 12-0 last Thursday by St. Thomas Aquinas. JUNIOR GIRLS The junior squad was blanked 5-0 in last Thurs- day's league game against Oakville Trafalgar. "We were short of players and we were not on our toes for that game," said co-coach Amy Boycott. "We were flat- footed and weren't really into the game." The junior girls took their first game with a 2-1 win over Georgetown with goals from Chrissy Pereira and Ashley Bunt. a, SCORELESS DRAW: Despite great play by forwards Ben Muggridge (No. 11), Mark Your Calendar... During the entire evening I felt as if I were in the land of Utopia. The Acton Community is a loving and sharing group of generous people. It has been a privilege to serve the children and parents of Robert Little School for 38 years. Thank you Acton and the surrounding area. I take with me fond memories because of your kind support over the years. Thank you for the gorgeous quilt, cushions, memory box, flowers, cards and other gifts. I embrace you with my love. Sincerely, Rosemary Black ft Derrick McIntyre (No. 19) and brother Phil McIntyre (second from right), the Acton senior boys' soccer team could do no better than a scoreless tie in this league game in Acton last Wednesday against Iroquois Ridge. -- Frances Niblock photo
