THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1998 New Acton night spot opens If last weekend's unoffi- cial opening of the new Manny' s Roadhouse at 6 Mill Street east is any indica- tion, Acton's newest re- vamped night spot will be a hit A near-capacity crowd 3-Pitch Parker hits game winner The Renegades and Touch of Class are tied for first place with six points each in Acton recreational mixed 3-pitch play. The Screaming Beavers are in third place with four points, followed by four teams with two points each and one team with no points. Monica Parker had the game winning RBI as Touch of Class edged the Polecats 16-15 last Wednesday at Prospect Park. Both Dan Trembly: and Jake Rhynold had home runs for Touch of Class, which won the game with strong play in the first four innings. In other league action, Dwayne Rhynold had two homers and teammate Ed Ebing had one as the Slopokes out-hustled A.P. Tankers 45-27 last Thursday night. Richard Cripps swat- ted two homers and Dave Tolezka also had a homer for the Tankers. The Purple Nurples de- feated the Screaming Beaver 25-18. Beaver's Steve Paul played well with two home runs and some good defen- sive moves. Renegade's starter Pete Vander Eyken went five for five as his team held the Hosers to a 28-15 win last Wednesday. Steve Shepard hit a home run for the Ren- egades. Sue Wiscombe made an excellent line drive catch at second base for the Hosers who also got two home runs from Steve Cullen and single home runs from John Reeve and Wade Vickery. SENIORS' Rec. CTR. The official opening of the new Manny's is on Saturday and will feature a pig roast and a Tragically Hip tribute band, Practically Hip. Work on the kitchen facili- ties is still underway so at this int the menu is restricted to ar food but Manny's will offer a full menu within the month. Prototapas and father Nick will also continue to operate the Four Seasons Restaurant on Mill Street, formerly home to Manny's Roadhouse.
