New funeral home opens on Sunday in Rockwood BY MAGGIE PETRUSHEVSKY The New Tanner Area residents are wel- come to visit Rockwood's own funeral home during its grand opening open house this Sunday, May 31. The new structure on Guelph Street has been con- structed for the Guelph firm of Gilbert MacIntyre and Son and will share staff with that facility. Mike MacIntyre says the Rockwood location will be staffed daily although the person on sight may vary de- pending on the situation at the Guelph home. "We have six licensed fu- neral directors on staff," he said. "We expect to be able to look after both locations with our existing staff and cars so that someone will be in Rockwood at all times." The Rockwood location will also be fully equipped with its own preparation room and a display of caskets, urns and vaults just like the Guelph home so that area families can be served on site. Indeed, the building is large enough that two families could be accommodated at one time if necessary. "We've been monitoring the area and after three years we concluded a funeral home could be needed to serve Rockwood and Eramosa resi- dents," MacIntyre said. "We're excited to be doing this because we feel strongly a home is needed as a con- venience for people in that area."
