THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 1998 THE NEW TANNER 13 Diane Dawe new seniors co-ordinator Halton Hills Community Support and Information, (HHCSD), formerly known as Acton Support Services and Information Centre, has a new seniors co-ordinator. Diane Dawe took on the role of seniors co-ordinator in the Acton office on April 27. She is responsible for co- ordinating seniors programs for Acton area seniors, such as assistance and advocacy, Meals on Wheels, Wheels to Meals, Meals on Ice, home maintenance, foot care, friendly visiting, income tax clinic, letter carriers alert, Seniors Connection, tel- ephone assurance and wan- dering person's registry. Dawe has a background in volunteer management and recreation program co-ordi- nation and _ previously worked at Allendale Long Term Care facility. She is fa- miliar with the needs of sen- iors and is enjoying meeting and assisting seniors in the community. 4 One area of service that Dawe is responsible for is that of home maintenance for seniors in Halton Hills. She is developing a plan to co- ordinate local businesses and community groups who would be willing to provide services at reduced rates to seniors, including assistance with heavy housekeeping, home repairs and renova- tions, decorating, plumbing, electrical, new furnaces, roofs, masonry repairs, modifications for personal safety and barrier free access. Other help that will be provided on an infrequent basis includes seasonal housekeeping, washing of indoor walls, washing of drapes, slipcovers, uphol- stery, indoor window wash- ing and cleaning of cup- boards.
