While police are confident they'll be able to reconstruct the accident, Trinity United Church Reverend Bob Matton, who conducted the funeral services for Brown, 34 and her children -- Melissa, 4, and Johnathan, 2, said we might never be able to make sense of the accident. "How do you make sense of the senseless?" Reverend Matton asked in an interview on Monday. "J don't know that we will ever understand exactly why something like this happens. We offer comfort to the fam- ily. We offer a sense that they are at peace and that they are in God's care now." On June 8, Brown was northbound on Owen Sound Street in Shelburne, heading home with her children, when their Chevrolet Cava- lier was pinned under a dump truck hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with stones at the in- tersection of Susan Street. The children were pro- nounced dead at the scene. | Wendy Brown was pro- nounced dead at Headwaters Hospital in Orangeville. At Friday's funeral Rey- erend Matton said Wendy Brown's family remembered her as a very generous and caring person whom always though of others and thought the world of her children. Rev. Matton said Melissa and Johnathan, who often came to church with their grand- parents, Marg and Don Dedman of Acton, were bright, cheerful children who loved their family. Wendy's love of the out- doors was celebrated with the hymn Jn The Garden during the funeral that drew a large crowd of friends, family and co-workers. More than 60 people at- tended the graveside service at Fairview Cemetery. Offic- ers from both Shelburne po- lice and Shelburne OPP at- tended the funerals and Shelburne Police Chief Wayne Squirrel said that mourners continue to lay wreaths at the accident scene.
