Mac- kenzie's Rachel Amirault had some fabulous plays at second base, while teammate Danielle Recoskie went three for three at the plate. Rylan Parker was consistent at the plate for IGA, while Kyla Reid gave a great defensive effort and Katelyn Roesner hit a towering double. eee Bradley Kri and Brandon Bennett were the power hitters for A&S Engraving as each hit three home runs in a game with Galveast last Wednesday. Their teammates Meagan Kirton and Jennifer Garvie both went three for three at the plate. Galvcast's John Jeffrey hit a home run and also batted in two RBI, while Steven Wolstenholme also hit a home run as well as a triple. Jesse Spurrel knocked in three RBI and hit a double. Acton Lanes appeals to kids A focus on children's bowl- ing programs has paid off for Acton Bowling Lanes which recently was honoured at a bowling proprietors convention in Calgary for having the most children bowling per lane in Canada. With six lanes and 210 chil- dren enrolled in the Youth Bowling Council (YBC) last year, Acton Lanes owners Gord and Darlene Labombard, both of whom grew up in the YBC program, are glad their effort to get kids involved with bowling has mushroomed. eer "The success of our pro- gram shows up in bowlers like Kylie Kruk (of Acton) who recently picked up her second national bowling award," Gord Labombard explained recently. "When we took over Acton Bowl four years ago we made a dedicated effort to focus on youth bowling by offering it after school, at night and at various tines on the week- ends." Labombard said they plan to offer a 55+ program for bowlers and one for special needs bowlers in the fall. Victoria Edwards put two between the posts, assisted by Cassandra Job and Lindsey Christie. Melissa Kowley popped in the team's third goal with a helper from Kate-Lynn Christie. Under 13 Acton Musicland outlasted Puslinch with a powerful three- goal performance by Holly Goddard last Thursday in a 3- 0 shutout. Kristin Killgour was strong in defence and Erin Greenfield controlled the midfield for Musicland. ee Bev Grey Design Services tied 1-1 with Brampton 'B' last Friday in a home game. Acton took the lead on an excellent header goal by Holly Goddard, direct from an Erin Greenfield comer kick. The home team was the stronger team for most of the game, but tired near the end due to a lack of substitutes. Brampton equalized with a late goal. Even short of players, Acton played some of its best soccer this season. Jamie Greenfield had-to leave the field after a tackle with another player and suffered a broken arm. Acton remains undefeated at three wins and two ties. BOYS Under 9 A&S Engraving had many chances but could not finish off . any of their opportunities in a 2-0 loss to Clarke's Newfound- land Store last Thursday. Clarke's scored both goals, by Bryon Pole and Zack Woolford, in the first half and hung on to the victory. A strong attack by A&sS in the second half was led by Kyle Gavin and Spencer Veness while Alex Mason and Marcel Van Helden showed strong defensively. eee Kenneth Wenzel led Super Submarine to a 2-1 win over Rockwood 3 Guelph OPP on July 21. Wenzel scored both Acton goals while Dillon Hustwit-Burchill scored the Hardball lone Rockwood marker. Ryan Pimental gave an excellent per- formance in net for Super Sub- marine. Under 11 Patrick Eagan netted his first hat trick, helping Acton Building Contractors to a 10-1 win over Grand Valley last Wednesday at home. Other Acton goals were scored by Paul Sharples (4), Simon Sharples (2), and Derek Rauwerda. Brendan Schatti counted for two assists and Thomas Poullos played a strong game in goal for Acton. ee MacMillan's showed to be the far better team in an 8-1 win over Grand Valley 1 last Thurs- day. Ben Dekleer led Acton's scoring with three goals, with Acton wins pair Acton 3 (7-9 years) took two recent wins over Brookville and Carlisle. Stephen Bennett hit a triple, two singles and also batted in five runs in the 16-11 win against Brookville. David Garvie added a triple, double and three RBI. Dustin Roskam and Nathan Brown each had three singles and one RBI. Against Carlisle, Bennett grabbed three pop flies to end the first, third and fourth innings. Jennifer Roskam batted the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth and added a single, triple and two RBI while Dustin Roskam hit a single, double and a home run. With a tie game at the end of the last inning and two out, David Garvie hit a grand slam home run for Acton to make the final score 12-8. MacMillan's played Grand Valley last Monday at home to a 2-0 win. Darcy Gordon scored for Acton from a corner kick, while Craig Kirkwood popped in the second. Cameron Martin earned the shut out in goal. The team showed good hustle overall, with only nine players and no substitutes. Spe- cial thanks goes to Zack Woolford and Darren Pezzack who were called up from the Under 9's to help out for both games. et Town & Country Window Cleaning took Puslinch to the cleaners July 20, defeating them 11-1. Davin Pole led Acton with five goals and one assist. The Mena Diaz broth- ers also came on strong with Federico booting in three goals and helping on two more and Sebastian scoring twice and earning an assist. Brandon Ceccotti rounded out the scor- ing with one goai and five as- sists, while Josh Ceccotti also had an assist. Katherine Ceccotti and Chris Payne each played strong games in goal: and Andrew Jackson also put forward a great effort.
