Try your hand and eye at m If you are looking for something entertaining to do for a few hours some after- noon, why not try a round of mini-golf? Lucky for us, we have a great 18-hole course right nearby! Tuitman's Gar- den Centre, which can be found two kilometres south of Acton on Hwy. 25, offers a 'Hairpin Curve,' and 'Funny Bone'. According to Figure Skating Club holds annual meeting Acton Figure Skating Club will be holding its annual gen- eral meeting on August 18, 1998 at the Scout Hall located on School Lane at 7 p.m. se. Nominations for secretary and board members must be sent to A.F.S.C., P.O. Box 17, Acton, L7J 2M2 and received no later than August 14, 1998. Nominations will NOT be accepted from the floor. All members welcome. THE NEW TANNER Joel, however, the coolest hole is number eight, called Water Hole, because you get to jump your ball off a ramp in order to get it to the hole. In 'Double Trouble' you have to get the ball in one hole so it can go through a tunnel to get to the lower level where the "real" hole is. Some kids are very serious about mini and line up each shot ike Tiger Woods, and others simply go with plain old blind luck. Either way, it is fun to watch them, and the smiles really tell it all. Some- times it's good to get a little competitiveness out of the system, right? Afterwards, you can get some ice cream to eat at a picnic table while you add up the scores and remember the great (and not- so-great) shots you made. At the fall fair draws nearer, there are lots of things your kids can be do- ing to get ready. I know a few who have started some projects and are looking for some competition, so here's a few ideas to get you started. Little tykes five and under can make three different play dough or Plasticine flowers and put them on a small plate. Finally, 12 to 16-year olds can become photogra- phers and mount three of their favourite pictures for display. Why not let them take pictures of your summer adventures? If you attended Acton District High School between 1954 and 1977 mark those dates on the calendar. It is your high school reunion weekend. Organizers have been busy at work searching for former students and planning events. "We're hoping the whole town will get in- volved," said Charlene Higgins one of the volun- teers. Events already being discussed include day events at the former high school where McKenzie-Smith Bennett is located, a dance aod the possibility of a pa- le. All committee members have been sending former students who live out of town information and trying to track others. To help in the search they also have a tveb- site and E-mail and will be having booths at the Leathertown Festival and at the Fall Fair. Organizers meet the last Wednesday of each month starting at 7 p.m. in the board room at the Acton Legion. Upcoming meetings are scheduled September 9 to prepare for the Fall Fair and again for the regular sched- uled meeting on Sept. 30. If you are able to help or- ganize events or want further information you can contact Sandi (Sinclair) Bowman 877-8049 or Sean Ahearne 853-4454.
