The team is sponsored by Bev Gray Design Services. The first game in the prelimi- nary round on Saturday saw Soccer Acton defeat Waterloo by a 1-0 score on a goal by Danielle Young, this after great approach work by Lisa Robson and Holly Goddard. In the second game Acton beat the host team from Kincar- dine by a score of 2-0. Holly Goddard opened the scoring on a fine individual effort and Rachel Turner hammered in the second direct from a free kick at a distance of 25 metres. The third game saw Acton beaten by Port Elgin 1-0. Acton dominated the game but were unable to find the net. Acton qualified for the finals the next day and came up against Waterloo in the semi-fi- nal. A thrilling game ended at a 0-0 tie. Again Acton dominated the play and struck cross bar and post but not the net. After extra time the teams were deadlocked and went to the dreaded penalty shoot out. Acton came out on top thanks to the goalkeeping of Emily. Henderson and great pen- alty shots by Holly Petkoff and Lisa Robson. In the final Acton went down to Wallaceburg 2-1, the lone goal on a penalty by Holly Petkoff. Acton had most of the play but were unable to convert it to goals. Some near misses saw the ball strike post and bar. An excellent effort by all players on a hot two days. Wolfer, Greenfield score 4 vs. Brampton GIRLS - Under-13 Acton's Bella Wolfer and Erin Greenfield each scored twice as the North Peel Halton Select team defeated the Brampton United Flames 5-2 in an away game on Friday. Rachel Turner had a single as Acton overpowered a short-handed Brampton team. The win keeps Acton on top of the league with a 4-2-0 record. Erin Greenfield was in top form as she scored four goals, including a penalty shot, as Musicland doubled Erin/ Hillsburgh 4-2 in Ballinafad last Wednesday. Musicland came from behind twice to tie the score and then took the lead. Hollie Manson and Emma Goddard had great games. BOYS - Under-11 Paul Sharples couldn't be stopped as he scored all six of Acton Building Contractor's goals in a 6-1 match last Wednesday in Grand Valley. Daniel Nikic and Derek Rauwerda each had assists and played strong games. Paul Sharples scored four goals and Jordan LaRose found the net twice as Acton Building Contractors narrowly defeated MacMillan's 6-4 recently. Simon Sharples helped on two of the goals. Brendan Schatti and LaRose had single assists. Ben Dekleer scored twice for MacMillan's and Craig Kirkwood and Matthew Pettifer added singles. Town and Country Window Cleaning handed MacMillian's a 3-2 loss last Wednesday. Brandon Ceccotti, Federico Mena Diaz and brother Sebas- tian all scored one. Chris Elmes had an assist and Eric Worfolk, Chris Payne and Kyle Marshall all played well. Craig Kirkwood scored both for MacMillan's. BOYS - Under-13 Anthony Zamernik scored six goals as Acton Pharmacy defeated Erin 7-3 in an away game last Tuesday. Reid Hendry had Acton's other goal and an assist. David Ellis also had an assist. Both defenseman James MacLeod and goalie Corey Slater made some great saves. Khoo has big hit T-Ball Slugger David Khoo had a great hit into the outfield as Daniel Varanelli met Rainbow Trophies last Tuesday. Connor Hitchcock made a great catch and Tommy Perron played well behind the plate for Varanelli. Ashley Irvine played well at first base for Rainbow while teammate Rachael Ivak hit well. Brandan Lockyer made a great save at third while Taylor Power had a great hit to centre field. Grasshopper A &S Engraving is 2-0-0 in post-season play following a 15- 10 win over Galvcast on Mon- day night at Robert Little. Brian Larocque hit two home runs and Brandon Bennett had a home run, a triple and a single. Jennifer Garvie made the play of the game when she caught a ball hit to third and put out two runners. Steven Wolstenholme had a double and a single for Galvcast while Nikki Spurrell had a double and a single. IGA edged MacKenzie & Chapman 20-19 in post-season play last Thursday. Both Robert Laing and Dylan Jubinville had home runs for IGA. Kaitlyn Roesner made some great infield catches and Rylan Parker showed great fielding skills.
