What better way to spend a late sum- mer's day than playing at a beach? While a bit smaller than Wasaga and Sauble, the Kelso Conservation Area does have a beach for everyone to enjoy. Entrance at the gates costs approximately $3.75 per adult, $2.25 per child, and $2.75 per student. Included in this price is the beach, hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as admission to the "Halton region Museum" which houses a fascinating display of local history. Spe- cial exhibits right now include "Toys and their Meaning" (only until this Saturday, sorry!) and, starting Sunday, an exhibit about the Victorians and their attitude towards nature. ° The museum is open from noon until five and is defi- nitely worth the visit if you will be in the area. Feel free to take along a picnic lunch as there are plenty of nice sites with tables where you can eat while enjoying the scenery. If you haven't noticed, I enjoy trails, and Kelso has access to several that can take you up and along the Niagara Escarpment and are designed with mountain bik- ing in mind! Whether walking or riding, there is defi- nitely some nice scenery to be viewed from up there. To get to Kelso Conservation Area and the Museum, head south on Highway 25 to the stoplights just north of Highway 401 (Campbellville Road), go west to Tremaine Road, south to Kelso Road, and turn west to the park entrance. ; I hope everybody is growing the sunflowers for the fair exhibits.
