There's lots to do for everyone We're on the threshold of school opening and the be- ginning of fall activities af- ter the long, hot summer. It's time to get off the couch or hammock and get involved with the myriad activities available in Acton, Rockwood and area. In the next four pages you will find advertisements for people of all ages. If you're a curler the Acton Curling Club is a long established, quaint, "coun- try" curling club located on Churchill Road North in Acton. It is proud of its hos- pitable warm atmosphere, friendly competition, superb social opportunities, great food and great ice. League play in the evenings caters to men, women and mixed. Seniors are very active on Tuesdays and Thursdays dur- ing the daytime. On Sundays the club hosts a recreational league and a junior program. Instructional programs are offered throughout the year. Curling at the Acton Club is fun. It combines social op- portunities with an athletic sport helping to pass away the winter months. The club is heated so you're not cold. Make plans to curl at Acton this year. Bring friends or make new ones at the club. It is very inexpensive to join. For more information please contact Donna at 853-1145. Maybe you prefer bowl- ing. Acton Bowling Lanes, the lanes refinished and leagues of every description for people of all ages, is start- ing children's and adult leagues right after Labour Day. If you want to ensure a spot in your favouraite league better pre-register, either by phone or in person, between August 25 and September 6. How about the martial arts? Tae Kwan Do classes are being held at the new Acton arena. It's a great place for a workout and they're got a back to school special. Maybe you want to join the Girl Guides or the Boy Scouts. Scott Malcom has a skate sharpening service available to make lessons more enjoy- able. Tired of buying wine and paying through the nose? Why not try making your own?
