A week later at home saw Fisherville come to play ball but Rockwood still was able to win 10 to 6. In the next round their opponent was Hagersville. Playing at home the locals were able to hold off a late charge by Hagersville to win 20 - 14. The next night down in Hagersville the offence again came alive to post a 29 to 7 win. In the final round Rockwood faced their old foes from Norwood where the rivalry has been going on for four years. At home again Rockwood was able to post an easy 19 to 4 win but knew it would be a different story when they travelled to Norwood. And a different game it was as Norwood jumped out to an early lead and looked like a different team from the first game. In a game that had excel- lent defence Rockwood was able to chip away and pull themselves back into the game and take the lead with a four run sixth inning. The locals then held on to post a 14 to 9 win and take the championship. @ Rockwood Shell & Variety Variety * Deli-Coffee Shop * Movies © Post Office ¢ Lotto Open6am-11pm 7 Days a Week Aliya & Mir Ali 295 Alma St. 856-2123 856-2020 Congratulations Peewee Girls Softball Team All Ontario Champions! ROCKWOOD DIGEST Building bought Rockwood restaurateurs Donna and Mike Yurek have confirmed their commitment to the village by recently pur- chasing the Main Street building that they've been leasing for the past 10 years. "We've been putting in lots of gardens at the front and maybe next summer we'll do a bit more with our patio but we haven't made any solid long term deci- sions, " Donna Yurek said when asked about future plans for the eatery. Yurek said she's working on a fall and winter menu and noted that Out To Lunch is now closed on Mondays. Yurek is not concerned that anew café scheduled to open Just up the street next month will hurt her business. "Our clientele is really quite tried and true so I'm not really worried about it, ex- cept it's another place filled which is good for the Main Street of Rockwood." New café Zi Rockwood residents Glen Panchyshyn and Patricia Torres will offer sandwiches, pastries and speciality coffees in their new unlicensed Eramosa River Café, sched- uled to open before the end of next month. The partners have signed a five-year lease on the building at 185 Main St. S., and are busy convert- ing it into an up-scale café with harvest tables, period furniture and the old bar from the Rockwood Hotel. "We will have three or four different kinds of coffee and will have a small bakery section. We're working on the menu but plan to offer salads and sandwiches and great fresh baking," Panchyshyn said on Friday. River Walk and Mill Run From high-end town- houses to affordable single family homes, Charleston Homes hopes to have a busy spring in Rockwood. It plans to begin pre-selling its pro- posed connected country manor homes -- high-end townhouses -- next month. That site is located between the Colonel Strange House and Stone Barn Estates and' some properties will walk out to the Eramosa River. Charleston sales and mar- keting director Dick Marvin "hopes they are near the end of the rezoning process" with the Township of Eramosa for the development.
