Makes sense to repair arena To the Editor: The biggest annual event that takes place in Halton Hills is the Acton Fall Fair. It's held part and parcel in Prospect Park which includes the (as we have come to know it) old arena. If this building is torn down as indicated in the Town of Halton Hills budget forecast, the Acton Agricultural Society ' would certainly be put at a grave disadvantage for future fall fairs. I say to you, Councillor Elliott, the people on the street represent the taxpayers in this area and are not to be ignored. This arena, I think, is needed as an arena, ice included. It would make economic sense for the Town of Halton Hills to spend $300 - $400,000 to repair/re- vamp this building compared to LETTE ey a eee ee RO Cc ) the $5 million plus to con- struct a new arena for the Georgetown area. J also think there is a ven- detta against the Acton Agri- cultural Society as there seems to be some strong indications by changes laid down to the Society by Town staff. As for the snow on the roof of the arena, I have never seen snow on that roof because of its construction. Someone said the arena was an eyesore to people walking in the park. That could be rectified easily using some of the money council has saved in the last five or six years neglecting the 853-5714 ACTON JIU-JITSU Martial arts by the lake The Pavillion, Prospect Park Kids 4-15 Second Degree Black Belt Canadian Jiu-Jitsu Assoc. I think this is another prime example of our council as a whole refusing to allow any ex- pansion in the Acton area by taking away, or putting costly restraints, on the local devel- opers. An irate taxpayers, W.
