It's a challenge for the personable Acton musical artist who is still basking in the success of her recent "all original" CD release, "Flesch" which she wrote and says sold out in Aus- tralia, New Zealand, the U.K. and the U.S. as well as Canada and is now in its sec- ond pressing. On her way up in the mu- sic world, Jennalynn credits - the teachers at Acton High school for setting her on the road to fame. She sings, plays sax, guitar and piano. Music teacher Peter Wilcox taught me how to write, she said in a recent interview and teacher Paul Tamblyn encouraged her to pursue a lifelong dream of a musical career. Tamblyn, who knew the late John Denver, introduced her to the pop star and she was able to work with him in Aspen, Colorado. Denver's influence is evi- dent in her music as well as that of Canadian artist Tom Cochrane, David Bowie and the band, Crowded House. Flesch, who recorded her CD "Flesch" with a studio band, has a new band now with Mississauga's Al Briant on bass, Dave Collier from Georgetown on drums, and Dave Beal of Oakville on guitar. They toured the east- ern part of the United States this summer, mainly Boston and New York, and have an engagement in Chicago in November to open for the windy city band, The Idea, a band which opened for their appearances here. A graduate of the national: Institute of Broadcasting, where well known DJ Jungle Jay Nelson was a teacher, Jennalynn has been the DJ at Bedrock (now Manny's) where she hosted a TV show and interviewed the musical group, Plugged In. She has been hostess on Cable 14's show Feed the Children, a bingo game show. Since she writes and per- forms her own original ma- terial, all of it on her CD, Flesch, Jennalynn and her band are attempting to carve a unique niche in a competi- tive musical world which swarms with look-alikes and bands of every description.
