"We're very fortunate that this type of activity is now available but unfortu- nately one of the barriers for some individuals living in a small town is transporta- tion," said team manager Susan Grierson of Acton, an adult support worker with Community Living North Halton. The Stingers play in league games and at invitational meets in the re- gion in preparation for the Special Olympics. "These athletes develop a pride in being a member of a team and the Special Olympics really stresses that it should be a community effort," Grierson said, add- ing that they advertised for their coach, J.P. Soucie from Hornby. Two Acton teens, Grierson's son Michael and Greg Voisin, coach the Stingers in their weekly skill drills and games.
