THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22, 1998 THE NEW TANNER CHRISTMAS CHOIRS: Proud parents - most armed with cameras - were entertained last Wednesday by the Robert Little school primary choir (sitting) and the junior choir (on stage) at the school's annual Christmas concert. MOCKING MOMENTS: Robert Little students spoofed the Twelve Days of Christmas to the delight of parents attending the school's annual Christmas con- cert. - Frances Niblock photo Computer bug prompts concern The reliance on computer chips and lines of code to operate everything from world-wide aviation, bank- ing and defence systems all the way down to personal computers has experts scrambling to find solutions to the millennium bug, or Y2K bug, that threatens to cause computer chaos on January 1, 2000 when com- puters can't read the date properly. Both the Town and the Region have struck commit- tees to deal with possible impacts, news that comforted Acton Councillor Norm Elliott. "Halton Hills won't be like a small country, which shall remain nameless, who in.an attempt to deal with the year 2000 concerns, struck a committee and asked that they report back in 18 months," Elliott said, noting that the magic date is just 13 months away. "We don't know yet what the ima plications of the year 2000 bug are for Halton Hills... but our computer gurus and top staff are inves- tigating and will report back."
