The romance started in Marg's hometown of To-. ronto in June of 1958 when-a girlfriend set her up ona blind date with Bob. Bob, a native of Burk's Falls, Ontario, was in Toronto at that time working in the sheet metal trade. Their first date took place at the stock car races and six months later they were engaged. On Jan. 24, 1959, the Merrikins were married at a church in Toronto. During the 40 years of marriage, < Merrikins had three children and seven grandchil- en. In 1979, Merrikin's left the big city life behind and bought a house in Acton. "He (Bob) likes small towns," ' says Marg. = So, what is it that keeps this marriage going?
