Remeber guys, ONLY 3 MORE DAYS gMs 'No mail' blues for rural family By FRANCES NIBLOCK The New Tanner Neither flat denials, frus- trating bureaucrats or so far empty assurances will stop a rural Acton resident from trying to get her mail, even though a Canada Post official dismisses her complaints about poor service as "un- founded." Since July, when a new sub-contractor underbid sev- eral long-time Acton rural mail carriers for two rural delivery routes, this Sixth Line resident, who doesn't want to be identified, and four other families who use the same rural mail box, have had sporadic mail delivery. The resident accused the Ottawa-based master con- tractor, who sub-contracts out her rural route, of taking the money but not producing the goods. "That makes me really ticked off. They're not fol- ee ee Rae, NEW BABY At your house? It's time to call your Welcome Wagon Hostess. She will bring congratulations and | gifts for the family and the NEW BABY! "T had to drive a cheque to Georgetown because it wasn't picked up from my mail box on time. We haven't received the phone bill and it's already due and my hus- band's pay stub for last week hasn't arrived yet and I can't do my banking until it ar- rives," the frustrated resident said, adding that newspapers and flyers often arrive too late to be of any good. In an interview on Mon- day, Canada Post media re- lations spokesman Tom Creech said after checking with the superintendent of the Georgetown post office and with the rural carrier that, "based on our examina- tion of the situation there doesn't appear to be a prob- lem." "Tt's sort of the word of the contractor versus the word of the individual, of our cus- tomer, and that's a tough one," Creech said as he promised to look further into the complaints.
