Bulldogs house league action began April 17 in Georgetown. The Acton Rams and Georgetown have suspended separate rep league play and joined to form one league with rep and alternate entry teams for each category, tyke to midget. Rams past president George Artem predicts the Area boy meet A Guelph boy had the thrill of his young life earlier this month when he won a trip to meet Wayne Gretzky. Travis Bell, 10, grandson of Violet McDowell of Acton, won the trip by entering a Post Cereal contest. He used the entry form on a cereal box and submitted it without his parents' knowledge. When his mother received the call saying Travis' name had been drawn for the contest, she initially thought someone amalgamation will mean a bet- ter calibre of play and more opportunities for players to join rep teams. "Until now, Acton and Georgetown could only field one rep team and some times we were short three or four players," Artem said. "Now we're fielding two per division and the first teams will be rated higher and there will be a good calibre between the Acton and Georgetown mix," Artem said, adding there were only minor s Great One hiccups as both clubs "gave away their identifies" to be- come the Bulldogs, the name of the junior lacrosse team in Halton Hills. Approximately 400 players are registered with the Bull- dogs this year, 100 of them from Acton. Artem said com- bining the leagues and some prime time coverage of pro- fessional lacrosse action have combined to boost reg- istration for the entire league by over 100 players from last year.
