Halton Hills Amnesty In- ternational's profile said the group worked tirelessly on a monthly basis writing letters to countless government au- thorities and prison officials on behalf of prisoners who have been unjustly detained because of their beliefs, eth- nic origin or sex, and who have not used or advocated violence. Among others recognized were: Const. Michael Brown- Over 12 years, Const. Brown has delivered seminars to the Police Service and to the Po- lice Service Board on racism. His actions and delivery of this information has gone a long way to overcome the gap between the police and vis- ible minorities both inside and outside our community, Willie Campos - having spent two years as president, and as an outstanding volun- teer at the "Halton Multicultural Council, Mr. Campos has successfully promoted respect for diver- sity and positive race rela- tions in the Halton commu- nity. He is a constant helping force behind the Canada Day Multicultural Festival, the Carousel of Nations and Hands Across the World. Debbie Mahaffy - Debbie is an active member of many groups dealing with crime and violence prevention and vic- tims' issues.
