THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28, 1999 THE NEW TANNER Pledge vows at home pate By FRANCES NIBLOCK The New Tanner Under a full moon and out- field lights, shortstops Norma Cameron and Mike Case, ball player and coach, stood at home plate at the Limehouse Park ball diamond on Friday night and were joined in holy matrimony. Norma's team -- the Limehouse Spikes of the Acton Ladies Recreational Softball League, coached by Mike -- talked the bride out of her wearing her uniform and then surprised the couple by lining up along third base in their uniforms. Mike's team-- also wearing their Limehouse Spikes uniforms -- stood on the first base line and both teams formed a matrimonial arch with plastic Louisville Sluggers at the end of the cer- emony, performed by the Reverend Peter Barrow. The ball crazy couple's family and friends gathered in front of the pitcher's mound for the ceremony, which be- gan three seasons ago in Limehouse Park when Norma showed up at a practice for Mike's team. The nervous groom, dressed in a tux and cowboy boots, promised to be a "beautiful husband" causing his bride-to-be, in a white dress and cowboy boots, to laugh as she correctly vowed to be "dutiful." Norma's son Don gave her away and daughter Lacey was a brides- maid and Mike's son, Jesse, was also of the wedding party. er the traditional Kiss the couple lit a candle in memory of Mike's father, the late Garnet Case, who also played a lot of ball at the Limehouse diamond. New fibre optic system Implementation of the Halton Catholic District School Board's new fibre-op- tic based Wide Area Network (WAN) has now begun. This network will replace the current infrastructure with a more reliable, high-band- width service. The Board's current WAN provides some schools with faster, more reli- able service than others be- cause of their proximity to Bell Canada locations. The new network will connect all schools with the same high- speed, reliable service. Schools that are now not served by the current network will be the first to be con- nected to the new WAN, by March 1, 2000. t THE WELLNESS CENTRE Chiropractic: Dr. Tom Thompson D.C.
