MacKinnon Family Funeral Home "Shoemaker Chapel" 55 Mill Street East, Acton, Ontario OPEN HOUSE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 1999 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. You are probably aware that our family has purchased the Shoemaker Funeral Home, which has been providing funeral service to the community for over 60 years. We have already met some of our new neighbours and appreciate your gracious welcome. We would like to open our home to all of our neighbours and invite you and your family to drop by on Saturday, November 27 between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. for light refreshments. The holidays are often one of the most difficult times to face for those who have recently experienced a death. The dove is a symbol of peace and we invite any of you who have lost a loved one over the past few years to take a complimentary dove from our "memorial" tree. This dove can become a part of a Christmas memorial for your own tree or a part of your holiday centerpiece. If you are unable to join us on November 27, our "memorial" tree will be in the funeral home until December 24. We would urge you to take a few minutes at your convenience, to take a dove from the tree and in return, complete an "in memoriam" card and place it on the tree in memory of your loved one. We have also established a library which includes many books and pamphlets on dealing with grief. We invite you to take advantage of this bereavement resource. Particularly appropriate at this time of year is a little brochure entitled "Can't Face the Holidays!" ; As the summer months come to an end and the long shadows of autumn begin to fall across the landscape, it begins to strike many newly bereaved people that the first Christmas season without their loved ones will soon be upon them. This is one of the most difficult times of the year and it is quite common to hear the cry, "I can't face the holidays!" With this in mind, we have purchased copies of this brochure to help you with this time of the year. These complimentary brochures will be available at the funeral home for anyone who wishes to take one. We look forward to seeing you! Sincerely, Wargaret aud Sok MacKinnon MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, "Shoemaker Chapel" Gail McDowell enjoys a cosy sit by the fire in her Alice Street home, one of the stops on the Deck the Halls house tour.
