On November 19, in Dundas, the Galvcast Tan- ners team edged Dundas 2-1 in an exciting fast pace game. Acton had only two lines and were a bunch of tired boys at the final buzzer. Brandon Ceccotti scored the first goal for Ac- ton with Nick Riddler setting up the play for an assist. Kurtis McArthur ~ scored what proved to be the winner, late in the sec- ond period assisted by Aaron Chaisson. Simon Sharples played a strong game between the pipes to help secure the win. On November 19 in Ac- ton, the Galvcast Tanners team shot out Hespler 4 -- 0. The Tanners got on the score board early with a goal by Mark Boycott and assisted by Greg Boughton at 12:49 of the first period. Then, 49 seconds later, Derek Cormier added a goal assisted by Brandon Ceccotti and Pat Collins. The Galvcast Midgets con- tinued to put pressure on their opponent adding an- other goal at 14:20 in the second period. This goal was Boycott's second of the game set up by Kyle McDonald. Neil Armstrong then added a goal in the third, set up by Kyle McDonald and Brett Manes. Simon Sharples played an outstanding game in goal to earn the shut out. Earlier in the season, the Galvcast Midgets downed Erin-Hillsburg 6-2 in Ac- ton. Kurtis McArthur started Acton's scoring with a great passing play from Jason Beatty. Derek Cormier then scored his first goal of the game at 8:06 assisted by Nick Riddler and Brandon Ceccotti. Still in the first period, Greg Boughton scored what proved to be the winner at 5:11 assisted by Cormier and Riddler. With 44 seconds left in the first period, Cormier scored his second of the game set up by Ceccotti. Pat Collins added a marker at 9:02 in the second period assisted by McArthur. Mark Boycott then finished the scoring at 4:25 in the second period from a pass by Neil Armstrong. Sharples had another strong game in goal to earn the win. On November 8, the Galvcast Midget edged Brampton 4-2 at home. This was a penalty filled game after coming home with a 4- 4 tie and a brawl in Brampton on November 1. Derek Cormier scored first, set up by Kurtis McArthur. Ashley Wiens who was brought up as an 'AP' player from the Minor Midgets scored a nice goal set up by Mark Boycott and Ceccotti. Pat Collins.scored the winner at 13:23 in the second assisted by Boycott. Weiis then added the insur- ance marker at 8:21 in the second with Boycott and Eric Goll setting up the play. Once again, Sharples played another strong game in goal. The Galvcast Midgets continue to improve and are playing some excellent hockey. We encourage the community to come out and watch some fast paced, hard hitting hockey. The Galvcast Midgets are home to Owen Sound on Tuesday, November 25 at 8:40pm and then home to Woolwich on Tuesday, De- cember 2 at 8:40pm. Both games are sure to be excit- ing as Acton has an axe to grind with. both squads. Come out and support our local Midget team. Atom BB drop two in league play Acton Proplastex Atom BB had a rough week dropping two games against two of the top teams. Acton traveled to Dundas on November 16, where they fell 7-1 to third place Dundas. The lone marker for Acton went to Lucas Molinaro who made a great second effort to bang the puck in. Assists went to Dylan Agnew and Brandon Lockyer. The Acton boys visited Burlington on November 18, and despite the loss the team turned in a great performance against the first place team. Molinaro scored the first goal unassisted late in the first with another one of his patented drives to the net. Burlington would score the next three before Michael Courvoisier narrowed the margin late in the opening period. The score remained 3-2 until early in the third when Nick Eagan broke in with a pass from Molinaro and tied the game at 3. Burlington went ahead with 4 minutes to go in the game before Eagan tied the score again with assists going to Jesse Spurrell and Mackenzie Morrison. Acton showed that they can skate with the top teams but once again seemed to run out of steam late in the game allowing Burlington to score 3 quick goals with the game ending 7-4. Acton's next game is on Saturday when the team travels to Elmira to face Woolwich. Atom BB team at Collingwood Acton Proplastex Atom BB team trekked to Collingwood this past weekend to participate in their second tournament of the year. The boys started the weekend with a game against Collingwood on Friday morning. Despite several chances and out playing thg Collingwood team Acton dropped their first game 2-0. Player of the game for Acton went to Cameron Carr who turned in a fine performance. The second game was against Midland on Saturday morning. The boys came out flying and blanked the Midland squad 6-0. Player of the game went to Jesse Spurrell who had a great game with two goals and two assists. Michael Courvoisier had a goal and two assists. Nick Eagan tallied a goal and an assist. Cameron Carr and Dylan Agnew added goals and Lucas Molinaro and Brandon Lockyer added lone helpers. Jesse Harris made plenty of nice saves in net to earn the shutout which gave him the Shutout award at the end of the game.
