THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2003 > THE NEW TANNER 15 Red Dog owner blames smoking bylaw for closure Tam writing this letter to confirm some misled in- formation gained by a (sic) Acton Tanner editor in re- gards to the Tid Bit (sic) written about me and my business The Red Dog, in the Acton Tanner news paper. First of all, Yes I did close my doors and No it was not without public comment, the people that I felt needed to be notified about my closing were, and joined me for one last night of fun, and one last cocktail, with me. As for the "Promise" I made to A.S.A.P (Acton Sports Action Park), I do recall notifying them of a dona- tion The Red Dog would be making, and I would hand over to them any monies raised. once their project was on the go, which I have every inten- tion of doings so, and as for the amount, it was not $1600.00, it was nowhere near that amount, I only had 40 players in the tour- nament. I just wish that people who write in the papers these days would get there (sic) straight be- fore they print things. And for all of the people of the community who feel they should have been notified about my closing, should maybe have come and pa- tronized my establishment, » and maybe have supported me a little more. I know I am going to repeat myself when I say this but I would like to thank the new Smok- ing Bylaw for helping me lock my doors for the last time. Cheers Lauri (Parker) EDITOR'S NOTE: Inan interview with The New Tanner, Red Dog owner Lauri Parker said, as was reported in the July 17 is- sue, that "We had a great time and really did well, raising approximately $1,600." Two of the more common factors that -entice people to part with their money appeared to be greed or ignorance.
