Acton woman airlifted to Sunnybrook By FRANCES NIBLOCK The New Tanner An Acton woman is listed in serious condition after being airlifted to the Sunnybrook Trauma Centre following a two-vehicle accident south of Acton on Tuesday afternoon. Police report Carole Lavigne of Kingham Road was northbound on Re- gional Road 25, when her burgundy-coloured Mazda mini-van collided with the rear end of a north- bound flatbed 18-wheel transport truck that had slowed to pull into a private drive. The driver of the truck, Craig Somerville of Cobblehill Road, was not injured. Lavigne was trapped in her van, which flipped on its side in the middle of the road, until emergency services staff ar- rived on scene to extricate her from the vehicle. Witnesses report Lavigne, who wit- nesses said suffered head injuries, attempted to pull herself out of her van, but was pinned in the wreckage. Lavigne told her rescuers that she was on her way to get her children from school when the accident oc- curred. The investigation by the Halton po- lice public safety unit continues.
