What a fabu- lous existence." Doors will open at 7 p.m. for displays and the meet- ing will start at 7:30 p.m. President, Barbara Halsall, said that holding the meet- ing on a Friday night is a new departure for P.O.W.E.R., but they were Town DIGEST Cops want more cash Just how much are Halton taxpayers willing to pay to be safe? That's the question raised by a number of mem- bers of the Halton Regional Police Services Board during budget debates last week, as the Board approved a $70- million budget for next year, up 13.4 per cent from last year. That works out to a $168 increase for the average resi- dent for a policing bill per household of $473, an ever- increasing cost that some Board niembers feel the pub- lic will question. Police Chief Ean Algar said being a proactive, not reactive service, incurs costs and that he has little control over areas of the budget in- " cluding salaries, benefits, capital debt and provincially mandated standards.
