The officers recently finished training at the Ontario po- lice College and now head out for on-the-job training. Assigned to Halton Hills (District 1) are Charles Byham and Eric Huer while Alison Campbell, Mark Murray and Stephane Par- ent go to Milton. The remainder go to Oakville (District 2) and Burlington (District 3). To the Editor, We have been Acton residents for more than 12 years. Sometime overnight last Friday, one/or more of the other residents of this town acted in a manner I have come to expect, at times, from some of the residents. Someone stole one of our Christmas deco- rations from the front of our house. We have attempted over the years to find unusual decorations to celebrate the Christmas season and also to entertain the younger ones who seem to enjoy this time of year. The deco- ration which was removed was a set of two Polar Bear Rope Light Sculptures. Apparently all they wanted to do was to take the deco- ration and destroy it since part of it was returned to our porch on Monday morning for us to find what remained of the sculptures. We have decided not to put out any external deco- rations in the future because we can not trust that they will remain on display untouched. Merry Christmas from a "disheartened" Acton resident. REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL Acton Water Supply System Class Environmental Assessment Study The Regional Municipality of Halton has initiated a Class Environmental Assessment Study to upgrade the Acton Water Supply System. The community of Acton currently obtains its drinking water from three well systems (Davidson's wells, Fourth Line well and Prospect Park well). Combined, these wells are intended to service the demands of the approved growth within the urban area. However, future capacity and the ability to meet increasing demand could be affected by issues such as maintenance, drought and changing consumption. The goal of this project is to provide sufficient, environmentally sustainable firm water capacity for the community at alltimes. This notice signals the commencement of the Class Environmental Assessment, a study which will define the problem, consider and evaluate altemative solutions and present the evaluation process to interested stakeholders (public and agencies) for review and comment. The study will be conducted in accordance with Schedule B of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process. Input from interested stakeholders is a key component of this project. A Public Infofmation Centre (PIC) will provide an opportunity to review the project, discuss issues and provide input on altematives and potential solutions. The PIC will be held in the Spring of 2004. Details regarding the PIC will be advertised as the study progresses.
