He was taken to Guelph Gen- eral Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia-related conditions. Planner for land By- MAGGIE PETRUSHEVSKY The New Tanner Guelph/Eramosa:council's planning consultant has given members some food for thought concerning options for zoning on property between Highway 7, Jones Base Line and County Rd. 29. Bernie Hermsen said an ap- 'plication for an industrial subdivision on the 81 acre Robertson property will be coming to council in the near future. Knowing that, he sug- gested council might want to look at some different ways the area could be developed since the County's Official Plan shows an adjacent area as ham- let and an unopened road allowance at the south side be- longs to the township. Hermsen suggested council might ask the developer to put. a road across an abutting mu- nicipal drain and zone a section of the nejghboring lot as indus- trial. Or the neighboring lot can be zoned residential and the drain used as a separation be- tween the two land uses, The third option would keep the land uses separated and ex- tend them south of the unopened section of Indian Trail to the greenland designation. Hermsen said after discuss- ing the proposal for the Robertson property with Robertson's planner Bruce Donaldson, he felt council might benefit from some thoughts about the area before they are faced with an applica- tion on the site. Donaldson tgld council his client would be willing to give CHRISTMAS CHEER: Some of the students of Rockwood music teacher Debbie Tilson helped celebrate the holiday season with Christmas songs and carols during a concert-on Sunday at Eden Mills Presbyterian Church -- Frances Niblock photo gives Council suggestions use west of Rockwood council additional land so they can widen the unopened sec- tion of Indian Trail if they wish. However, he advised against using the road, if they create it, for anything more than an emergency exit because the in- tersection with County Rd. 29 would be extremely dangerous. It would be better to create loop roads "within the neighboring properties and have each one exit to the ad- jacent roads, Jones Base Line to the west and County Rd. 29 to the east instead of open- ing Indian Trail to connect the two roads and service the 1 Holiday Office Hours Are: December 24, 2003 ecember 25, 2003 CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED 500 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A) new subdivision. Donaidson suggested his cli- ent will be willing to discuss his proposal with the neigh- bours if council wants to set'fip an open house before the ap- plication comes to council. The Robertson application will come to council in the spring. New Councillor agrees with . letter from Marg Iutzi To the Editor, (Re: meeting stacked Dec. 11). Margaret Tutzi's con- cern for her community and her willingness to take the time to write a letter, is one of the things that really makes this a great place to live. I share her sentiments about this community and the need to support our lo- cal business. I would like to clarify that the "Open House", which was held on December 8, was set up by the previous council. The new council has every intention of hold- ing a public meeting on the Tim Hortons in Rockwood. I believe that when a "hot" issue of this importance is facing the community, it cannot be resolved without direct public input. A date will be set for the public meeting early in the new year and I look forward to a large turnout.
